Howdy! I am Julie Dana. Nice to meet you. My friend Laurie helped me with this interview. She had some great questions. (Besides it feels stupid to interview yourself) 1. Why do you do this? I know it sounds corny but my greatest joy - beside my family - is having a client feel proud of their home again. I love getting people unstuck on their décor plans and empowering people to do it themselves especially when they didn’t think they could. 2. How much experience to you have? I’ve done well over a thousand houses (yep – I counted them one cold winter night). Many clients are repeat customers working on one room before going on to the next room. (I am working on a map of where my clients are from that will be coming soon). 3. Who are your ideal clients? People who are a little crafty or a little handy and on a budget. It seems most clients contact me because of a life event: marriage, divorce, new house, new children, large tax return, or recent empty nest. Ideal former clients also know when to pull me back into a project before they make expensive mistakes. Great clients also know the difference between HGTV or Pinterest and real life. 4. What is the difference between The Home Stylist and Style in a Snap? I started The Home Stylist in 2002 in the Buffalo/Western New York area. I added online and e-decorating to it. After 9 years, I made Style In A Snap in to its own division for online clients no matter where they live and revamped The Home Stylist for Buffalo area clients.
