An inspirational quote to think about today:

When you want to transform a room into an entirely different animal, change color

Are your accessories dated?

Fresh and up-to-date accessories can change the look for your room quickly. Just a shopping trip and careful placement is all you need.

If your home decor accessories are more than 5 years old, get yourself to HomeGoods, Target, or Pier 1 ASAP.

Yes, accessories older than 5 years (or vintage pieces you have had on display for more than 5 years) are ready to retire.

While surfing the web one boring-television night, I found this great little article. I really don’t know this blogger but I could not have said it better myself.

OK – there is one point I would add:

Contact Style in a Snap or  The Home Stylist to get professional help so you don’t make costly mistakes and waste time.

Punches of Color can change a room

Adding the right punches of color can really brighten a room. In this example above we mostly added the correct accessories to bring this room to life.  The only purchase was light colored ottoman.

Clients often ask we what to do in an empty corner. Here is one choice: a focal-point-worthy art piece on an easel.

Just as a FYI – in my humble opinion the ficus tree is a no-no. Maybe in the 1990’s but its time is over.

If you need help updating your home (and replacing the ficus tree with something else) contact me at julie@styleinasnap.com  or julie@thehomestylist.com. I will be glad to help!

Design Tip: near the doors

A pretty tray near the back or front door is so useful. Car keys, outgoing mail, notes to remind yourself of errands can all have one spot.

This simple trick really helps to keep clients (and myself) organized while making the room stylish. You can find unique trays just about everywhere from Target to Pier One.

(of course it is not me who needs notes on what errands I need to do…wink wink)

It brings me great joy when I can empower a client to try something new and branch out a little bit.

I was never a cheerleader in high school but I am making up for it. I love cheering my clients on and getting them excited about the possibilities of their home.

Can I hep you decorate your home?
